Wetherspoon defies the odds
Despite the recession, rises in alcohol tax and the smoking ban, Wetherspoon continues to prosper.
The pub chain, JD Wetherspoon has reported a 1.9% growth in like for like sales over the last six months. Shares in the business are soaring and 21 new pubs have opened in the last year.
The cost of opening new sites has fallen considerably in the last year and this will add to the overall profit margin, which is up 2% to £30.8 million.
