A new housing company is being set up in Brighton & Hove to provide good quality homes for people with a range of needs to whom the council owes a housing duty. This not for profit organisation is seeking private sector Board members.
The housing company will be able to increase investment opportunities and generate funding, enabling it to increase the standards and quality of its housing. In addition, many of the city’s council’s homes will be improved to meet the Government’s Decent Homes standard, and satisfy tenant aspirations for modern and comfortable homes.
It is now seeking 4 new members with the right skills and expertise to join the board, which also includes four residents and four city councillors. They should be over 18, independently minded and bring added value to the organisation through their experience and skills.
They are looking, in particular, for the following skills:
- Legal
- Accountancy
- Financial Management
- Private Finance or Banking
- Organisational Management
Men and women who have company secretary experience or who have worked previously as a company director would be espeically welcome.
You will need to give approximately [6] hours of time per month to the project on a voluntary basis (expenses will be reimbursed). In return you will receive the satisfaction that comes from playing a major role in the creation of a better future for people in housing need.
If you think you have the dedication, time and commitment to work on this venture please contact Judi Wilson, Project Manager Tel. 01273 29 3143 or email judi.wilson@Brighton-Hove.gov.uk
