Online sales keep rising
Despite doom and gloom mongering of monumental proportions spending online continues to grow. The sector now represents almost 20% of overall retail spending.
A new report from IMRG and Capgemini indicates that online spending for the first half of the year is up 38% on last year. Online stores or e-tailers would appear to be showing marked resilience to the current credit crunch and falling consumer confidence.
Clothing and footwear have been particularly strong online while their bricks and mortar equivalents have been hit hardest. These sectors have been amongst the highest growth sectors online for some years now as the more traditional online sectors such as books, records and electronic equipment have reached maturity.
