House prices continue to slide

The Nationwide Building Society has reported a drop of 1.7% this month. Which equates to a yearly decline of 8.1%

The average price of a property in the UK now stands at just over £169,300. This is the ninth consecutive monthly fall on the Nationwide index and a house is now nearly £15,000 cheaper than July 2007.

Fionnuala Earley - Nationwide 's chief economist – said "The weakening economy and poor housing market sentiment do not suggest that the market will recover quickly,"
