Global influence on trade
What do the 2008 Olympics, Barack Obama and Ramadan have in common?... Each will have an impact on tourism and retail trade in the UK.
According to shopping specialist Global Refund the Chinese Olympics will mean that spending by Chinese visitors to Britain could fall by 24%. The company also predicts that the American elections will deter people from visiting the UK in the six month run up to the election and this will impact on tourism to the UK. Ramadan falling early in the year will have an impact on Middle Eastern visitors so that visits will be consolidated in July and August and September will be avoided entirely. Forewarned is forearmed.
