Eco-funding available for SMEs
EU opens Eco-Innovation fund for eco-friendly products, technologies, services, processes and management methods.
The fund will support eco-innovative projects in different sectors which aim for the prevention or reduction of environmental impacts or which contribute to the optimal use of resources.
The four eco-innovation priority areas are:
- Materials recycling: better sorting processes, innovative recycling products, new recycling solutions, new markets for recycling products
- Building & Construction: innovative processes and products, sustainable construction techniques, green building techniques, water saving systems
- Food and drink: cleaner production processes with higher resource efficiency, reduction of waste, increasing recycling and recovery, water efficiency
- Greening business and smart purchasing: application of (new) Eco Management and Audit Schemes (EMAS), eco-design, eco-labelling, integration of eco-innovation in supply chain.
The fund is open to all legal persons based in the eligible countries, but the priority will be given to SMEs. Clusters of applicants and projects which demonstrate a European added value and have a high potential for market replication are strongly encouraged.
The deadline for submission of proposals is 11 September 2008.
