A new forum has been set up to enable businesses in the tourism sector to come together to share ideas and learn from each other. The group will also be a source of information on employment, training and services in the industry.
Any business involved in the Brighton and Hove Tourism Industry is welcome to join the Tourism Forum.
Recent research has identified that there are skills shortages in key roles within the sector and that churn rates are very high. One of the key aims of the Forum will be to address these challenges.
The first meeting of the Forum took place on the 17th March 2008 and was held at The Grand Hotel in Brighton.
The next meeting will take place on the 17th July 2008 and will be held at The Queens Hotel from 4pm until 6pm.
Any business wishing to join the Forum simply needs to sign up to the Tourism Charter. This outlines a commitment by businesses to the employment of individuals from under-represented groups and an upskilling of existing employees.
On signing the the Charter businesses will be presented with a certificate of recognition, which can be displayed in the work place.
Business that sign up to this Charter will be monitored annually to ensure they have met their Charter commitments.
