Brighton & Hove City Council leader steps down
Cllr Brian Oxley - the popular leader of Brighton & Hove Council and the Conservative Group - will step down as leader of the Council at its meeting on May 15.
A successor will be chosen by the Conservative Group on April 7.
Cllr Oxley said: "I came to this decision after a lot of thought. I believe I have achieved what I set out to do when my Group took over the Administration last May and given that I wish to pursue other personal and professional interests, the time to move on is now"
The front runners to take Cllr. Oxley's place are deputy leader Cllr. Mary Mears and Chair of the Environment Committee Cllr. Geoffrey Theobald.
