Top industry experts are offering to share their knowledge for free to help shops get the most out of their shop floors in these tough times for retailers.
Ellie Kidson of training company ‘Metamorphosis’, a specialist in helping retailers to maximise their space says, ‘The longer a customer spends with you… the more they are likely to buy.’
Her method focuses on understanding customer behaviour in order to influence sales. By helping retailers to better understand their shops as ‘sales tools’, Ellie will help managers to assess their current levels of performance, maximise sales potential and get the ‘right’ products in the ‘right’ place.
Adding to the debate will be local retailer Alex Thomson, a visual merchandising expert. Alex will provide practical skills and techniques that can be used to improve in-store merchandising. By looking at how to maximise window displays, she will explain how to send the right message through ‘branding’ and will give insider tips on how display techniques can actually improve a store.
A free course on the 18th March 2008 has been specially developed for the fashion and accessory industries and a further free course on the 26th March will explore the role of Charity shops, selling items from furniture to fashion.
Both days will be held at City College – Brighton & Hove and will run from 9:30am to 4:30pm. Bookings can be made for a morning or afternoon session or all day. The only criteria is that the business needs to be in Brighton and Hove. Any size business can attend, it doesn't matter if it’s an independent company, national organisation or even if they have had funding before.
For more information, or to book your place, call Jill Armstrong at City Business Skills on 01273 667756.
