The regional development agency for the south east has reorganised their area teams which is good news for Sussex and Brighton & Hove.
Previously Brighton & Hove was covered by a team responsible for Surrey & Sussex but the responsibility for Surrey has been assigned elsewhere and a new team will concentrate just on Sussex which reduces the size of the patch by about one third.
Also the post of deputy area director has been created for the first time, which will strengthen the capacity of the team.
The work of the area teams includes establishing the needs of the various parts of the sub region in line with the priorities in the Regional Economic Strategy and working with economic partnerships and others to ensure that this happens.
