New Road will set the scene for Christmas in Brighton this year, with the first Christmas Sparkles Market – an event organised to promote the city and to offer traditional entertainment for families out doing their Christmas shopping.
Festively decorated stalls set out in New Road on Saturday 8 December will be selling hot food, produce and gifts, musical entertainment will be provided during the day by the Salvation Army and other local choirs, and a grotto with gifts provided by Disneyland Paris will contribute to the traditional Christmas atmosphere.
The Christmas Sparkles Market has been organised by the Business Forum and New Era Associates (organisers of the award winning Brighton Farmers Market) and has been supported by Brighton and Hove City Council, the Pavilion Gardens Café and many local traders.
A children's Christmas colouring competition will be held at the Pavilion Gardens Café, and a raffle will be drawn at 4 pm in New Road. Amongst the very tempting festive prizes on offer are: 4 tickets for 27 December from Brighton Dome to see the St Petersburg Ballet Theatre Company, 2 Meal and Comedy Club tickets for Komedia, a gift voucher from Pinocchio’s restaurant and a mystery gift from Leaders letting agents in New Road. Juice 107.2 will also be supporting the event.
It is not too late to donate a prize (for the children’s competition or the raffle), to take a stall, or to come along and entertain the crowds – we would love to hear from you - by telephone on 01273 735442 or e-mail firstname.lastname@example.org. Stall enquiries also to email@example.com. The market will be open from 10am to 5 pm and the grotto from 11am to 4pm (road closure from 7am to 7pm).
All proceeds from the grotto will go to Sparkles and Surprises www.sparklesandsurprises.org.uk - a locally registered children's charity - to provide holidays or days out for complex special needs children.
