Christmas will get off to a flying start on 15 November at 6.00pm with a spectacular fireworks display from the rooftop of Boots by the Clock Tower. Traders in the Unique Brighton area of the city (the Business Imporvement District) are already gearing up for the Festive Season and will be laying on some surprises.
The Christmas lights will be switched on as soon as the fairy dust settles. The lights have been commissioned from leading supplier Blachere and paid for by businesses in the Unique Brighton Business Improvement District (main streets of the North Laine, North Street and part of the Lanes).
The spheres in the North Laine have been designed specifically for Brighton and are unique to this city.
The display in the Lanes will be extended this year thanks in part to sponsorship money coming from Southern Water and 4Delivery of £4000 and £1000 respectively.
There will also be a treasure hunt for the children. The kids will be challenged to find the hidden treasure in the shop windows. The Argus will be producing a special supplement on 13 November that will carry the clues and the scorecard.
When they have found the hidden treasure the children will be required to take their completed scorecard to the big white polar bear at Donatello restaurant in Brighton Place where they will be offered a free drink and a slice of pizza and will enter the competition to win one of a number of fabulous prizes. Prizes include a soft toy from the Animal House, a giraffe from Pure South, a £50 voucher to spend in the Ambience Gallery, an Ugly Toy from Cissy Mo as well as gifts from Charley Barley, Cat & Mouse, Storm and others.
Everyone who comes to see the lights will have the opportunity to start their Christmas shopping early with a late night opening till 8.00pm. And the Unique Brighton Home Delivery Service means you can shop till you drop and stay for the evening without having to lug your shopping around with you.
