Falmer Stadium finally gets the go-ahead
Lewes Distirict Council has decided not to appeal to the Government’s decision to allow the Falmer Stadium development to go ahead. The news has been welcomed by the leader of Brighton & Hove City Council (see previous articles in Knowledgebase).
Brighton & Hove City Council leader Brian Oxley said, "That's a welcome and sensible decision. It remains to be seen if any other body would try to mount a challenge but Lewes were, perhaps the most likely litigators, because they had available a large fund of their taxpayers money to fight with. I would now hope the stadium could proceed, and any available funds are used to address residents' concerns and minimise impact on the surrounding area."
The Brighton & Hove Albion football club has been fighting an ongoing battle for eight years and is now finally looking forward to getting on with the development that promises to boost the economy by some £13 million per year.
