No Butts – use the bin
As the first day in July approaches businesses should be gearing up for the undesirable side effects of a nationwide public smoking ban. Despite Government efforts to train people not to smoke it is inevitable that many will continue and in order to do so will take it outside.
This means our streets and alleyways could very soon become ashtrays. Unless of course businesses take responsibility by providing cigarette bins or wall mounted ashtrays for staff use. Businesses should also promote the need for vigilance and care in disposing of cigarette ends. Throughout June Encams will be running a campaign aimed at businesses and local authorities to distribute posters and information about cigarette bins and responsible disposal of cigarette litter.
