In its response to the Core Strategy of the Local Development Framework (LDF) the Brighton & Hove Economic Partnership (BHEP) has called for the final document to reflect central government thinking on land use planning.
The BHEP praised the LDF team for producing a clear and easily understood document and for their very genuine consultation with the business community, which will continue with the Issues & Options consultation early in 2007 (see events for details of a further formal consultation opportunity).
The BHEP also made a clear call for the final version of the Core Strategy to reflect the clear signal from government that, while sustainability continues to be of paramount importance, planning must take greater cognisance of the economic benefits of development proposals and this may require a compromise between environmental and economic issues.
