Brighton & Hove Business Forum (BHBF) and Brighton & Hove Economic Partnership (BHEP) last week launched their climate change commitments
Under the headings, paper, waste, recycling, water, energy and transport BHBF and BHEP staff have committed to a number of actions designed to contribute to carbon reduction and therefore to tackling climate change.
To underline their commitment to the climate change agenda BHBF and BHEP have added a business and climate change section to the website. The section, which can be found on the left hand side of the home page, signposts businesses to a number of websites and initiatives that provide free advice and support to enable businesses to increase profits, minimise waste and reduce environmental impact.
Tony Mernagh, Chief Executive of Brighton & Hove Business Forum and Executive Director of Brighton & Hove Economic Partnership said: "Sooner or later all businesses will have to have climate change action plans either voluntarily or via legislation and the latter will almost certainly include "fiscal incentives" to encourage compliance.
"The more businesses that adopt a voluntary code the less expensive it will be for them in the long run and future generations will be grateful for their foresight."
