The Brighton BID will award a £350,000 contract for on-street security on 21st September. This will provide a uniformed presence on the streets of the BID area seven days a week to deter anti-social behaviour and assist businesses on their premises if the need arises.
However, the intention is that this will be more than a security presence. The operatives will be trained in first aid and fire procedures and will also adopt an ambassadorial function in providing information and advice to visitors.
They will also work closely with the Business Forum’s Business Crime Reduction Partnership (BCRP) to log criminal activity and this intelligence will be used to help inform Sussex Police activities.
The number of operatives on the street will vary according to the time of day and day of the week but it will be a minimum of two people dedicated only to the streets in the BID area.
