In response to the growing interest from towns and cities in Business Improvement Districts (BIDs) the British Urban Regeneration Association (BURA) has established an organisation to meet the needs of pre-start and new BIDs in the UK.
Membership of British BIDs is open to existing and planned BID organisations of which there are currently 29 in the UK including the Brighton BID established by a positive vote on 26th May.
Members will be given access to advice and case studies together with a directory of suppliers for typical BID projects and the opportunity to network and exchange best practice.
It is expected that the new agency will act as a think tank and manage the progress of BIDs as the escalate over the coming years. Some commentators are predicting that there will be over 60 BIDs in place in the UK by 2010.
