|More visitors than ever!|
Brighton & Hove's tourism income up by £30 million
Income from tourism in the city in 2005 was estimated to be £400m and the local authority’s destination marketing department is confident that it will top £430m this year.
And crucially we are not only getting more tourists but also increasing numbers of the type that spend the most money – longer staying, short break visitors. More than 20,000 people visited the information centre in Bartholomew Square last month, which was an increase of over 20% on the previous year. The Council’s visitbrighton.com website is getting nearly one and a half million visits annually.
Brighton & Hove is currently the 4th most popular destination on lastminute.com and we are 11th most popular in the whole country for overseas visitors.
