Brighton & Hove Police are offering all hotels and guesthouses in the city the opportunity to test their security procedures for free, using a plain clothed police officer named after well-known paperback character ‘Burglar Bill’.
At an unspecified date in the near future a plain clothes police officer will pay a visit to willing hotels and guesthouses with the aim of getting into the premises undetected or unchallenged and mark items that could have been stolen.
The officer will then give immediate feedback and advice to security personnel.
The objective of "Burglar Bill" is to raise awareness and to highlight the need for everyone to take ownership of security issues. It is intended to make staff aware and generate a greater feeling of safety in Brighton and Hove's hotel industry.
To register your hotel or guesthouse for this free test please contact Paul Knight, Priority Crime Reduction Officer for Sussex Police on 01273 665863 or email paul.knight@sussex.pnn.police.uk
