City scores well on cultural services review
The Audit Commission has completed an inspection of the cities cultural services including attractions, venues, libraries and museums and Brighton & Hove has been shown to have an impressive number of strengths.
Brighton & Hove received the highest score for cultural services of any council so far inspected in the UK and it was praised for its partnership working.
Public satisfaction with venues at 71% was substantially higher than the national average of 47% and similarly the satisfaction rating for museums and galleries (64%) was above the national figure (42%).
Employment in the creative industries is the fastest growing sector in the city’s economy and makes up 10% of total employment. It also contributes to the quality of life that makes Brighton & Hove an attractive city for inward investment.
