Falmer Stadium seesaws back to Prescott
The Office of the Deputy Prime Minister (ODPM) has had to rescind planning consent for the community stadium at Falmer because of a mistake in the letter of approval.
The letter mistakenly identified most of the site as being inside the Brighton & Hove Local Plan area but only a small part of it is.
A challenge from Lewes District Council means that the consent has to be withdrawn so that the ODPM can consider the case again. It is highly unlikely that this technicality will make any difference to the decision but as a delaying tactic, it adds to Brighton & Hove Albion’s difficulties in delivering the stadium that the club needs to survive.

Lewes Council is adamant that it has other issues as well as this technicality that it still wants to pursue through the High Court in a joint action with Falmer Parish Council.
