It seems that while many of us have heard about SEEDA very few of us know what it does. The role of the South East England Development Agency is something that baffles many people in business.
According to the Annual Enterprise Survey conducted by the Institute of Chartered Accountants in England and Wales only 8% of business accountants knew what SEEDA did. However, most admitted that they were aware of the organisation’s existence.
Business Links in the south east region did slightly better in the survey. While most people had heard of them only 30% had any idea what they did. This falls in line with the national picture on Business Links.
SEEDA tends not to work directly with businesses but rather relies upon a network of 11 Economic Partnerships across the region to engage at the local level. In Brighton & Hove the Economic Partnership has a very high profile and good links with businesses at all levels.
