Equal Brighton and Hove, a city-wide initiative that supports adults into training and employment, is up and running.
Equal provides European Social Funding to a variety of projects undertaken by local organisations which work with people who have experienced difficulty in accessing conventional routes to learning and work. Their aim is to enhance the employability of disadvantaged local people and provide a skilled labour pool for employers.
The programme invites local employers to get involved by offering work placements and employment opportunities, thereby boosting the economic success of the city.
Some of the many benefits businesses stands to gain are:
- Greater visibility and profitability
- Free publicity
- Extra support at low cost
- Improved staff motivation and management skills
- A workforce that reflects the diversity of the local community
The Equal programme is championed by Martin Perry, Chief Executive of Brighton and Hove Albion and Alan McCarthy, Chief Executive of Brighton & Hove City Council.
If you would like to find out more or get involved in the project contact Claire Mitchell on 01273 774796 or email Claire.Mitchell@bhbcp.org.uk
