Boots to spend £250 million on its smaller shops
Boots has announced a programme of refurbishment. On the one hand it plans to bring its small stores into line with the larger ones. And on the other it will be reviewing its distribution network and in the process expects to shave 2,250 jobs from the payroll.
The refurbishment will improve the quality of 700 of the smaller stores. The IT network will be restructured and supply chain management will be modernised and automated.
At the moment there are at least seven different Boots fascias in use. The programme aims to create a uniform brand by bringing these in line. The shops will be painted and refitted and many will have new pharmacies added.
