Business Association plan a memorable Christmas for Kemp Town

Building on the success of Kemp Town’s Summer Carnival, local traders have pulled together to organise a traditional Christmas event including a Christmas Market, a parade and live entertainment, attracting shoppers to the area, and raising money for their chosen charity,The Brighton Heart Support Trust.

Plans put together by the Kemp Town Village Business Association include a lantern parade through the village prior to an official ceremony for turning on the Christmas lights. Carol singing, live street entertainment and a Santa’s Grotto are also on the list of events.

Gill Mitchell, local Councillor, was delighted to give the venture her full support. “I’m all in favour of an event which involves local businesses, residents and community groups pulling together to celebrate at a special time of year. People who live and work in Kemp Town Village are justly proud of this area. It has a friendly, vibrant atmosphere, a great cluster of fabulous, independent shops and a real community feel.”

Liz Barrett of Foto Finish in Kemp Town Village has been heading up the Business Association team working on the project and sums up why people should come and enjoy the festive atmosphere. “We’re keen to host an event where people can enjoy the build up to Christmas. Of course, it will be ideal for present shopping because the retailers in the village pride themselves in sourcing irresistible products that you won’t find anywhere else in the city. But what we’d really love is for families and friends to come along, enjoy the fun and soak up the atmosphere."

Events are planned for Sunday 27th November from 10am. In addition to the normal opening hours, many shops within the Village will be open every Sunday from the 27th November until Christmas. For further information and enquiries about stall availability, please email liz@fotofinishbrighton.co.uk or telephone 01273 679845.
