The East Sussex Fire and Rescue Service is calling on businesses in the Brighton & Hove area to be aware of local companies claiming to represent the fire service in a ‘hard sell’ approach to promoting risk assessment consultancy services.
“We have received several complaints from Brighton & Hove businesses that they have been approached by companies trying to ‘strong arm’ them into buying their services and claiming that they are working in partnership with East Sussex Fire and Rescue,” said Senior Fire Safety Officer, Adrian Brown. “Whilst we urge businesses to carry out proper risk assessments, both to ensure against the dangers of fires and as it is a legal requirement for most premises, we do not work in partnership with risk assessment consultants and would like to distance ourselves from this kind of ‘hard sell’ which is clearly upsetting some people.”
All Fire Service Personnel carry identity cards, If you have any doubt about the identity of a member of the service you can check with East Sussex Fire & Rescue Service HQ on: 0845 130 8855.
