The University of Brighton has announced the launch of a BHCC/Single Regeneration Budget funded education & training initiative aimed at voluntary/ community organisations (CVO’s) and enterprising individuals who have a business idea that can benefit the community of Brighton and Hove.
Working in co-operation with the Brighton and Hove Business Community Partnership (BCP) an accredited training programme in business planning for social enterprises will start in September 2005 and be repeated in January 2006.
The programme advisor Clifford Conway stated: “Many organisations are looking to diversify their funding through promoting their skills and services but often need to fully develop their business planning abilities to succeed."
The programme offers 6 one-day workshops spread over a three month period covering the key issues of Marketing, Finance, Managing Staff and Legal Issues all within an integrated plan. Successful submission will achieve a Graduate Certificate in Social Enterprise, providing an important enhancement for funding credibility. On completion BCP will then help the graduates build links with existing businesses by matching them with mentors, who will support the successful implementation of new projects.
There are free places available for residents in the Brighton and Hove area so if you would like to find out more, please contact Clifford Conway on 01273 642175 or e-mail email@example.com
