Churchill Square's Shopmobility scheme is to get a cash boost from Age Concern that will enable it to extend its opening hours.
The Shopmobility scheme, which provides scooters and wheelchairs to help disabled people to go shopping, has been given £2000 by Age Concern England to extend opening hours to 9.30am - 4pm on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday.
Shopmobility manager David Johnson said, "The extension of our hours has made a real difference. People with mobility problems often find it difficult just to get out of the house, so being able to open the scheme earlier and close later is a great benefit to them. Thank you to Age Concern for this much needed money. "
Shopmobility is open from Tuesday to Thursday inclusive and hires out scooters at a cost of just £5, plus £10 returnable deposit. Manual wheelchairs can also be hired for up to two weeks and are popular with summer visitors.
