Planning permission has been granted for a new 80-bedroom hotel to be built opposite the new library in Jubilee Street. A shopping complex is also under development on the North Laine site.
Plans for the hotel were passed by the city council’s planning committee at a meeting on 16 March.
A separate restaurant will also be built, which will include some much needed basement parking.
Cllr Bob Carden, chair of the planning committee, said, “This hotel will make a welcome addition to the area and will complement the design of our wonderful new library.”
