In a move to draw more people into Brighton’s cultural quarter the Theatre Royal and NCP have come together to form a joint initiative on parking. Half price parking with an option to book in advance is geared to take the stress out of driving to the theatre.
The car park in Church Street has been refurbished and renamed The Theatre Car Park and as a result it now feels a lot safer. The access sign posting has also been much improved, which enables people to find it quickly and efficiently and this will help to reduce congestion in the city.
The Theatre Royal (part of the Ambassador Theatre Group) initiated the project in response to a survey, which highlighted the fact that parking was a major inhibitor in drawing people to the theatre.
At the launch reception on 2 March, leader of the council, Ken Bodfish said, “This is a wonderful example of partnerships working for the common good.” And he encouraged other businesses to think about similar initiatives that they could become involved in.
