The draft of the regional spatial strategy (RSS) that will determine land use for transport, housing and regeneration for the next 20 years is available for consultation until the 15th April 2005.
The plan is being formulated by the South East England Regional Assembly (SEERA) and the draft version divides the south-east region into a number of study areas. Brighton & Hove falls into the Sussex Coast study area but we also have a strong interest in the Gatwick area.
The Brighton & Hove Economic Partnership will be consulting with a wide range of businesses and interested parties to respond to the plan’s proposals. Initial reading of the draft suggests that the case for regeneration and economic growth needs to be beefed up and a number of development opportunities should receive greater emphasis in the final version e.g. Shoreham and Gatwick airports.
