Businesses in the tourism sector should be careful to avoid dealing with a company called Direct Maps. It is selling advertising space on a map that it claims has the backing of Brighton & Hove City Council. It does not.
The map, which was first produced a few years ago, appears to have been sanctioned by Brighton and Hove libraries. A spokesperson from the council has stated that: “Brighton & Hove Council has no arrangement with this company and has never approved any map that the company has produced.”
Some traders are still waiting to see a copy of last years map for which they have paid up to £680 to advertise in.
If you have been approach by a Mr D Gould of Direct Maps and if you have paid for an advert that has not materialised please contact the Business Forum at firstname.lastname@example.org
