Brighton & Hove City Council’s acting chief executive Alan McCarthy has been appointed to the post permanently. He succeeds David Panter who left in October to run Adelaide’s heath services.
Alan was chosen from a line up of 19 applicants. The selection was then approved by the authority’s full council on November 25.
Having worked for the Brighton & Hove local authority for the last 10 years, most recently as deputy and acting CEO, Alan is well aware of the size and scope of the commitment he has taken on.
He said, “Brighton & Hove has the potential to become an even more successful and exciting city than it is already and the council has a key role in making this happen.
“The council has a fabulous workforce, incredibly well-developed partnerships with committed partners and whilst I do not underestimate the size of the challenge I have no doubt we are poised to make a real difference. “
