St James’s Street Club gets an extension
The Candy Bar on St James's Street has had its weekend opening hours extended thanks to support from local traders.
The Council is known to be cautious when handing out licence extensions due to concerns about noise and disturbance. However, permission was freely granted on the grounds that the Candy Bar has shown itself to be a good neighbour and responsible operation.
Sussex Police commented that they thought the bar was well run and that they envisaged no problems from the extension of hours. The Brighton & Hove Hotels Association supported the application and said they felt the Candy Bar 'made a positive contribution to the St James's Street area and the attraction of tourists to the area'.
