The office of the Deputy Prime Minister published a consultation earlier this month which included controversial proposals to regulate commercial leases
This consultation follows on from a Reading University report that showed how many business tenants are subject to upward only rent review provisions.
The consultation outlines six options to deter or outlaw inflexible leasing practices. The Government is now seeking views and opinions on the various options on rents, funding, development and investment in commercial property.
If you would like to comment on the six options the deadline for responses to the DTI is the 24th September 2004.
