Brighton’s Royal Pavilion gets new boss
Pauline Scott-Garrett has been appointed as the council’s new assistant director, heritage. As well as the Pavilion, she will be in overall charge of the city’s libraries and museums – including the new central library in Jubilee Street opening early next year.
She joins from Medway Council in the Thames Gateway where, as interim renaissance manager, she set up a new regeneration delivery unit. She was also responsible for the regeneration of the centre of Chatham and its waterfront. This included a new library and other cultural facilities. Previously Ms Scott-Garrett held a number of culture-related roles at councils, including leading the development of the award-winning new Theatre and Gallery for Milton Keynes Council.
Ms Scott-Garrett also advises the Commission for Architecture and the Built Environment (CABE) on art in the built environment.
Ms Scott-Garrett is expected to take up her post in the autumn. She replaces Jessica Rutherford who left in July.
