Brighton’s transport services win national recognition
Transport initiatives to improve bus services in the city were recognised on Thursday, 8 July when Brighton & Hove City Council scooped a National Transport Award.
The award was for traffic management measures such as the creation of bus lanes, putting infrastructure in place to stop illegal use of bus only routes and for improvements to bus stops, including making it easier for all users to get on and off the buses.
On receiving the award Councillor Gill Mitchell, chair of Brighton & Hove's environment committee, said, "We are thrilled to receive an award on behalf of our highways and transport teams. We already know their hard work has paid dividends with increased bus use against the national trend and to be recognised by the industry is the icing on the cake."
