UK is on track to meet broadband target
The latest research from the telecoms regulator, Ofcom, indicates that uptake of broadband and digital television is growing at a rapid pace. Around 53% of all UK adults now have access to the Internet, with a quarter of those using high-speed connections.
The number of UK households using broadband had reached 3,992,500 by the end of April 2004, with over 40,000 new connections being made each week. The UK Government has a target of 'having the most extensive and competitive broadband market in the G7 and for having 100% availability by the end of 2005'.
