So what does that mean for Brighton?
Local Development Frameworks (LDF) are an integral part of this Bill designed to revolutionize the planning system. Effectively LDF will replace the much maligned Local Plans within five years.
The Government's reasons for bringing in a new system for the preparation of Development Plans are to: -
- speed up the preparation of plans; ·
- Ensure that plans are monitored,
- reviewed and kept up to date;
- Achieve more effective involvement with the community.
The reforms to the planning system are intended to make the planning system more responsive to changing circumstances. It is intended to make the process by which development plans are prepared quicker and more flexible and to require community involvement throughout the process to enable the people who live, work, study, socialise, and enjoy recreation in the area to help to shape its future.
