According to a new survey conducted by the University of Strathclyde on behalf of the Federation of Small Businesses the future is looking good for small businesses.
The study entitled, Lifting the Barriers to Growth in UK Small Business, shows that the SME sector is confident and in good financial shape.
Much of the new growth is due to young women working from home. They represent a significant proportion of the 25% of respondents who started up a new business in the last three years.
The survey also reveals that in total FSB members employ 1.25 million people and that 43% of entrepreneurs reported an increase in employment since 2003 compared to 16% that reported a decline.
