Councillor Pat Drake will be appointed mayor of Brighton & Hove at a ceremony on Thursday May 13.
Cllr Drake, who is a Conservative councillor for Withdean, takes over the chain of office from outgoing mayor, Cllr Jeane Lepper.
Born and bred in Brighton, Pat has been a councillor for 32 years, serving on the former Brighton Borough Council, East Sussex County Council and now Brighton & Hove City Council.
Her new role as mayor marks the culmination of a long and busy career in local government and she and is looking forward to meeting people across the city during a busy year in office.
