It is perhaps a measure of how quickly fashions come and go that speed dating is already a cliche but the application of the same principle to networking appeared to get the thumbs up from the attendees at the Busines Forum AGM at the Grand Hotel on April 29th.
There was a brief presentation on some of the work of the Forum over the past year with particular reference to the consultancy to provide an Executive Director to the Economic Partnership and the continuing work of both the new city centre manager - Soozie Campbell - and the Business Crime Reduction Manager Terry Davies.
Afterwards, two rows of chairs facing each offered people the chance to talk safe in the knowledge that they only had four minutes to do so. This meant that no one got stuck in conversation for too long but if important topics of mutual interest came up they could be discussed in the bar afterwards.
City Centre Manager Soozie Campbell had organised a helicopter flight for the winner of the draw at the end of the evening and it was claimed by Cllr. Vanessa Brown (Conservative: Stanford ward).
The event was sponsored by Churchill Square, NCP, The Grand Hotel and Fast Helicopters based at Shoreham Airport
