The factory, which manufactured plastic packaging, closed four years ago and the site has been unused ever since. The proposals fit in with an area of the city identified in the tall buildings strategy as being suitable for tower blocks. The nearby King Alfred site a mile to the east also includes tall towers in its development proposals.

Additional facilities on the site will include a health and fitness centre, offices, restaurants and dance studios and will provide hundreds of new jobs. The Brighton & Hove Economic Partnership (BHEP) will be commenting on the application when it is submitted.
