Retail Failures Predicted
The Centre for Economic and Business Research is predicting more than 1,750 retailers will go out of business this year with the majority ceasing to trade in the next three months.
Mounting consumer debt resulting in a freeze in household spending will be largely to blame according to the Industry Watch report prepared for BDO Stoy Hayward accountants.
It is vital that businesses that can see cash flow problems coming in the near future contact their banks and get support early before the cash shortage hits. The Business Forum in association with the Economic Partnership and Sussex Enterprise are putting on an event called “Retail Revolution” on April 27th in the Dome, Brighton to show independent retailers how they can increase their profitability without increasing stock purchases. For details of the event and an on-line booking form see the homepage.
