The West Pier rises once again from the ashes. English Heritage has come up with a proposal to save Brighton’s famous ruin. Brighton & Hove City Council leader, Ken Bodfish, warmly welcomed the announcement.
Cllr Bodfish said, "We said on Wednesday that short of a miracle it was all over and here is the miracle. The Pier is back from the dead.
"This is a nationally important building which could make a large contribution to the local economy.
"The news is all the more welcome because it really had hit home with everyone what we stood to loose. Across the city people were mourning the loss of our dear old friend, so I'm sure most of Brighton & Hove will now share my absolute elation."
