City Seeks Cash For Non-Smoking Study
Brighton & Hove Primary Care Trust (PCT) are seeking cash assistance for a study to investigate the impact of a city wide ban on smoking.
The PCT have joined forces with Birmingham to explore the effect that a ban would have on health, business and the economy if smoking was banned in all public places across the city. If the findings are favourable the city may become one of the first to be declared smoke free and be designated a Healthy City by the World Health Organisation (WHO).
There is considerable debate amongst restaurant, bar and club owners about the effect of a ban on business and there is certain to be opposition from some members of this sector.
