Touch-screen computerised kiosks packed with visitor information have been launched in Brighton & Hove. A detailed guide to accommodation, attractions, shopping and eating out will be provided at the touch of a button.
Kiosks will be placed in the windows of Hove Town Hall and the Visitor Information Centre in Bartholomew Square, Brighton. Visitors actually press the window from the street to call up information. This means the service is available 24 hours a day.
Searches can be made over the whole city or by area. Areas are Hove and Brunswick, Churchill Square and Western Road, The Lanes, North Laine, seafront, Kemptown, Brighton Marina, Rottingdean, City Limits and beyond.
Eventually information about events and hotel room availability will be presented. The Council’s Visitor & Convention Bureau says it hopes to install more terminals at other busy sites as soon as funds permit.
Tourism councillor Sue John said, “This is an excellent way of getting information to visitors any time of the day and night. Having room availability on the system soon will be particularly useful to visitors who have turned up at the Visitor Information Centre outside office hours looking for somewhere to stay. We’re saying to visitors who want some help ‘just tap on the window’.”
