  • Our Mission

The Lanes Business Network was set up by a number of active traders in The Lanes in order to promote this unique area as Brighton's Premier shopping arena.

    Our mission statement is:

    • To network and create interaction between businesses in the Lanes
    • To market the Lanes
    • To keep the Lanes traders informed and represented on important issues involving the council

We are very pro-active, reacting to current economic climates and trends together with the use of our extensive contacts to create a highly sustainable business environment.

We achieve more by acting together as a community, and our collective voice helps us influence other organisations. By pooling our individual skills we get better results.

The committee attends a variety of meetings and events which deal with the growth and development of our City. These include Economic Development Workshops, e-commerce, ecobrighton, BrightonTV and The Arts Commission, to name but a few.

The Lanes Business Network is set up differently from a regular association in that it has no need for a written constitution, is independent and does not ask for or collect fees from any members. We do fund raise, however, and these monies go directly to the causes we are championing - Christmas lights for example. The committee give their time and input free.

Linking everything together is our sociable attitude. We believe networking in a convivial social climate is paramount to what can be achieved. Our events are attended by like-minded people from the world of commerce and business, together with councillors, city council representatives and other action groups.

    Stuart Wilkie - Chair
