All systems go – a one-day workshop for established start-ups

Date: 24 September 2012 - Time: 9.30am-4.30pm (lunch not provided)

This one-day workshop is for new businesses a year or so into their existence who want to develop further their essential systems for success. We look at what you hoped for when you started, and where you are now. We focus on the main business activities – from marketing to pricing – that will guide you in the near future towards growth and greater achievement.

The course will include:

  • How to plan effectively for your business
  • A review of your marketing strategy
  • A look at what makes a profitable business
  • How to innovate and maintain a competitive edge
  • A chance to network with other new business owners

By the end of the workshop, you’ll develop an understanding of how you can acquire more customers, and how you can increase your profitability. You’ll have the opportunity to revisit your business and marketing plans, and if you’ve never had time to develop any plans in the first place, you’ll also learn how to plan effectively. You’ll test out some tools which can help to generate new ideas and manage the process of innovation in your businesses.

The facilitators are Clare Griffiths and Isebail MacKinnon. Clare Griffiths is an award-winning enterprise educator, who works at the University of Brighton, supporting students and graduates to develop their enterprise skills and entrepreneurial ideas.

Clare also delivers practical training courses and consultancy for small businesses and social enterprises across East Sussex.

Isebail MacKinnon is a SFEDI-accredited business advisor who delivers business support to small businesses in London and abroad. She has recently set up three micro-credit projects for enterprising women in Ghana and Uganda, having managed an award-winning project in East London.

Together, Clare and Isebail form Think Innovate Change LLP, and deliver and design training and innovation management tools for individuals who want to develop their creativity and innovation skills so that they can lead innovation and change in whatever they do, and turn their ideas into reality.
